Education
Training in the Alexander Technique is a three-year program consisting of 1,600 hours. Currently twenty centers are endorsed by the American Society for the Alexander Technique, the largest professional association of Alexander teachers in the U.S. See their web site at www.alexandertech.org for a complete listing.
Official Licensing Bodies
Practitioners of the Alexander Technique are not currently licensed in any state in the U.S. They are, however, certified by one of the nationally recognized training centers described in the education section. In addition, the American Society for the Alexander Technique (formerly the North American Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique) has a program that board certifies advanced students who have graduated from the one of the schools endorsed by the Society and have met certain criteria.
